Three Excellent Literary Videos

December 13, 2013

Shorter days, cold nights, a crushing Holiday hangover. Sit back and enjoy three excellent discussions of the literary sort, from three spectacular speakers.

Alice Munro discusses her Nobel Prize for Literature. It begins with her childhood inspiration in “The Little Mermaid,” and how telling stories has always been with her. Munro: swoon.

Billy Collins, former US Poet Laureate, is a genius in every way. He’s intensely loveable and talented, and this TED talk, while a slight deviation from what you normally see in these inspirational videos, warms the coldest day.

Elizabeth Gilbert isn’t exactly beloved among literary readers — she gets a lot of flack for Eat, Pray, Love, but her TED talk about creativity and writing is definitely worth watching.

At The Masters Review, our mission is to support emerging writers. We only accept submissions from writers who can benefit from a larger platform: typically, writers without published novels or story collections or with low circulation. We publish fiction and nonfiction online year-round and put out an annual anthology of the ten best emerging writers in the country, judged by an expert in the field. We publish craft essays, interviews and book reviews and hold workshops that connect emerging and established writers.
