The Masters Review Anthology
Of course we’re excited to announce our open submissions for this year’s collection of ten emerging writers, The Masters Review Volume V, selected this year by Amy Hempel. Anyone who has not published a novel at the time of submissions is free to submit. The ten winning writers will have their stories or essays published in our printed work and receive $500 each. Submit up to 7,000 words.

THRESHOLDS Feature Competition
THRESHOLDS, the online forum supporting writers dedicated to the short story, is calling for feature essays that either profile a short story author or recommend a short story, collection, or anthology. First place is awarded £500, two runners up £100.

Creative Nonfiction Magazine
Nonfiction writers, the magazine’s “Siblings” issue closes to submissions, so submit your essays up to 4,500 words. According to their guidelines, “Essays should combine a strong and compelling narrative with an informative or reflective element, reaching beyond a strictly personal experience for some universal or deeper meaning.”

National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships – Poetry
The NEA Literature Fellowships program awards $25,000 grants in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry to published creative writers on a two-year cycle. This year, they are granting fellowships in poetry. Grants are meant to enable the recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement.

The Colorado Review Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction
This annual prize gives one writer $2,000 and publication in the Fall/Winter issue of The Colorado Review. This year’s judge is Gish Jen. Stories must be at least ten pages (or 2,500 words) but no more than 50 pages (12,500 words).

Bellingham Review Literary Contests
Three $1,000 prizes are awarded in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction with judges Sybil Baker, Daniel Tobin, and Joy Castro respectively. Submit up to 6,000 words of a story or essay or up to three poems. All winners are also awarded publication.

Florida Review Editors’ Awards
Three awards in fiction, essay, and poetry will earn publication and $1,000. Judges this year are Denise Duhamel (poetry), Mark Wisniewski (fiction), and Ira Sukrungruang (creative nonfiction). Submit up to 25 pages of prose or 5 poems.

Narrative’s Winter Short Story Contest
Narrative is looking for short stories, essays, memoirs, photo essays, graphic stories, and all forms of literary nonfiction. Winners receive $2,500, $1,00, $500 for first, second, and third prizes, and ten finalists will receive $100. All submissions are considered for publication.

Indiana Review Poetry Prize
The Indiana Review is currently accepting submissions for the 2016 Poetry Prize. Camille Rankine judges this year’s contest, and the winner receives $1,000 and publication.

Ploughshares Emerging Writer’s Contest – Opens
Submit up to 6,000 words for a chance at $1,000 and publication. The Emerging Writer’s Contest is open to writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry who have yet to publish or self-publish a book.
