Letter From The Editor

January 1, 2015

Dear Readers,

There have been some changes implemented this year to improve our ability to publish the best writers and to fully serve our goals once the book has been published. The first is opening submissions to all emerging writers. This allows us to support a community of new writers by showcasing exceptional work regardless of enrollment in a graduate program. We are also implementing a reading fee. This allows us to pay the writers we publish. The Masters Review has a strong history of paying for its content and we are excited to continue this tradition in the anthology. Beginning this year, the ten writers featured in the book will be awarded $500 each. Because of the resources, time, and effort that goes into publishing the anthology, we hope these changes will allow us to serve the writers we publish to the best of our ability. We are thrilled to offer the opportunity of publication on our platform to all emerging writers and are eager to begin reading submissions.

Thank you for your support and for your stories,

Kim Winternheimer, Founding Editor

At The Masters Review, our mission is to support emerging writers. We only accept submissions from writers who can benefit from a larger platform: typically, writers without published novels or story collections or with low circulation. We publish fiction and nonfiction online year round and put out an annual anthology of the ten best emerging writers in the country, judged by an expert in the field. We publish craft essays, interviews and book reviews and hold workshops that connect emerging and established writers.
